Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
This policy explains what information the Sephardic Siddur app and the sephardicsiddur.com website use, why, and the choices you have. In short: your personal prayers and files stay on your phone, and we never sell your information.
Who we are
The Sephardic Siddur app and website are made by Shlomo Brothers. For any privacy question, email us at shlomobrothers@gmail.com.
What stays on your phone
These are saved only on your device. We do not receive them:
- My Prayers: the prayers you write and the photos and PDFs you attach.
- Bookmarks and settings: your saved places, language, font, text size and night mode.
- Downloaded prayers: the prayer texts you download for offline use.
Permissions the app may ask for
- Location (only while you use the app, and only if you allow it): to fill in your city for Shabbat, holiday and zmanim times, and to point the Find Jerusalem compass. You can type your city instead.
- Camera and photos (only if you allow it): to attach a photo to one of your prayers in My Prayers.
- Notifications (only if you allow it): for reminders about fast days, holidays and important dates.
You can turn any of these off at any time in your phone's settings. The rest of the app keeps working.
Notifications
We send notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service. To deliver them, your device gets a notification token from Google. We use it only to send app notifications. See Google's privacy policy.
Prayer content and videos
The app downloads prayer texts and updates from our server. Like any website or server, it receives basic technical information such as your IP address so it can send the content.
Some prayers may include a video. Videos play from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, and YouTube's own privacy policy applies when you play one.
When you contact us
If you use the contact form on this website, email us, or send a correction from inside the app, we receive what you send: usually your name, email address and message. We use it only to answer you and to fix the prayer texts.
Website form messages are delivered to our inbox by email through Mailgun. You get an automatic email confirming we received your message. To block spam, the form briefly keeps your IP address and the time you sent it.
The website
This website has no ads, no tracking cookies and no analytics. Its fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to download them.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your information.
- We do not show ads or share your information with advertisers.
- We do not build profiles about you.
Deleting your information
Everything stored in the app is on your phone, so deleting the app deletes it. Note that your personal prayers are not backed up, so they are lost if you delete the app or change phones.
To ask us to delete emails or messages you sent us, write to shlomobrothers@gmail.com.
Children
The app is a prayer book for everyone, including families. It does not ask children for personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app or website uses information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
